About Charles Norona
My most recent experience comprises of design, implementation, and maintenance of robust data pipelines which feed data into a multitude of applications and use cases whose implementations I also contributed. Said use cases ranged from ad-hoc analyses to real-time network performance monitoring for network operations personnel. Before this recent experience I contributed in various business intelligence projects that varied in purpose and scope.
During this period of my career I was able to hone my data engineering and science skills, lending my ingenuity to developing models to calculate cost of service delivery, deployed edge computing resources to collect and stream network performance data to centralized data sink, and advised business leaders and stakeholders on best approaches to getting the insights that they required.
In order to accomplish my tasks I had to employ in numerous tools and technologies. The most basic among them are the implementation of ETL processes in both PHP and Python. For databases or optimized query engines/platforms, I have interacted with MySQL, MSSQL, MongoDB, Snowflake, and AWS Athena. In terms of business intelligence or data visualization tools, I have worked with Alteryx, Tableau, and Sisense but also leveraged Jupyter notebooks or implemented the use of Highcharts into web applications. In addition to my data science/engineering skillset, I possess a range of skills related to my Software Engineering discipline which include basic Project Management, User Interface Design/Wireframing, Data Modeling, Software Design with UML, and use of Software Design Patterns. In 2010, I graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (Electronics Engineering) with previous experience as a LAMP Stack Developer (Linux, Apache, Mysql, PHP).
I am currently residing in Dallas, TX, USA. I am available for remote work opportunities. Extracurricular activities consist of improving my understanding of investing and learning about a wide-range of information security concepts (for improved security in my own systems). My free time has been largely spent on surviving 2020. :)
